EVERETT — As the sun sets on Saturday, The Musical Mountaineers and Friends will perform at the Northwest Stream Center.
The serenade will launch Adopt a Stream Foundation’s $1.5 million campaign to convert the Northwest Stream Center’s Visitors Building into a Sustainable Ecosystem Lab.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for early admission and priority seating at the stream center, located in McCollum Park at 600 128th St. SE. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
Attendees can purchase tickets online, by phone at 425-316-8592 or in person at the stream center’s Nature Store.
Through donations, Adopt a Stream staff hope to transform the Northwest Stream Center into an “accessible model of sustainability,” according to an outline of potential renovations.
Locals can sponsor a slew of sustainability projects at the center:
• Adding 160 solar panels;
• Collecting rainwater for the trout stream exhibit and groundwater system;
• Installing a solar hot water heater;
• Acquiring recycled aluminum siding;
• Placing hand dryers in the bathrooms; and
• Replacing Adopt a Stream gas-powered vehicles with electric vehicles.
“It will become a place where you can see and learn about the latest tools to fight climate change — that you can put to use where you live or work,” said Adopt a Stream’s director, Tom Murdoch, in a press release.
Those interested in donating to the campaign can write checks payable to Adopt a Stream Foundation, or make payments online or by phone at 425-316-8592.
