ABERDEEN — Grays Harbor Prosecutor Stew Menefee says he plans to wait for autopsy results before deciding whether to file new charges against the man accused of shooting an Aberdeen woman.
Twenty-eight-year-old Rebbecca Dietz died Thursday after being shot multiple times outside her apartment in May.
The Daily World reports that Dietz told police the estranged father of her young children broke down her door and shot her in front of their daughter. The father, 39-year-old Charles E. Jefferson Jr., of Renton, now faces charges of attempted second-degree murder.
Deputy Coroner Lane Youmans on Sunday said an autopsy was conducted Saturday but the cause of death is pending further tests and analysis that could take weeks.
