CORVALLIS, Ore. — Authorities probably won’t file charges against a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed an Oregon State University student.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports that 34-year-old Shiloh Sundstrom was pursuing a Ph.D. in OSU’s Geography Department when he was struck and killed by an SUV in November.
A report from the Linn County District Attorney’s Office says there isn’t enough evidence to conclude that the SUV driver behaved recklessly or committed any criminal acts after the crash.
According to the report, Sundstrom was walking along the highway near Corvallis around midnight when the SUV hit him. It says the driver believed he hit a deer and called police the next morning when he heard that someone was killed.
