Arlington: A parade along Olympic Avenue is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1561 and Arlington American Legion Post 76. Lunch follows at 12:30 p.m. at 115 N. Olympic Ave. Free for vets, otherwise $5.
Camano Island: Utsalady Elementary School offers a Veterans Day assembly at 2 p.m. Thursday at 608 Arrowhead Road. The school chorus will perform patriotic songs.
Everett: The Everett Senior Activity Center offers a United Service Organization (USO) dance from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at 3025 Lombard St. Admission is free to all veterans, and refreshments will be available. The Moonlight Swing Orchestra from Monroe will provide music for dancing, and there will be additional entertainment and military exhibits.
* Imagine Children’s Museum, 1502 Wall St., offers a Veterans Day Wall of Thanks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Visitors can write the name of a family member or friend who is a military veteran on a square that will be attached to the wall. The goal is to have the wall run the length of the museum.
* Naval Station Everett offers its annual Veterans Day Celebration in honor of armed forces members past, present and future.
The program will feature Chief Petty Officer Christopher Erbe, who recently returned from Iraq, followed by an open discussion of memories.
The celebration is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Commons’ Grand Vista Ballroom, 2000 W. Marine View Drive. Participants can buy lunch after the ceremony.
All veterans are invited. Those attending should arrive at the main gate by 9:45 a.m. Inform the gate guards that you are there for the Veterans Day program, and you will be directed to the Commons parking lot. No special ID is required.
Mill Creek: An assembly is planned for 9 a.m. Thursday at Henry M. Jackson High School, 1508 136th St. SE.
Granite Falls: Monte Cristo Elementary School, 1201 100th St. NE, will honor veterans at an assembly at 2:15 p.m. Thursday. At 2 p.m., there will be a flyover by the Blackjacks featuring the “Missing Man” formation.
Veterans are invited to observe the aerial display on the playground, weather permitting.
The assembly will include a multimedia presentation with the student choir and a song written and composed by Washington State Teacher of the Year Andrea Peterson. Student representatives from each class will honor veterans at the end of the assembly.
Lake Stevens: Members of American Legion Post 181 will be at several locations in the Lake Stevens area to hand out red poppies and information about Veterans Day.
They also will be collecting donations to support programs such as American Legion Baseball, Boys State, Girls State, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Blue Star Service Banners, flag education, child safety and school visitations.
The veterans will be out from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jay’s Market, Tom Thumb, Safeway, Albertson’s and Haggen.
Lynnwood: VFW Post 1040 and American Legion Post 37 offer a joint Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Park, 19300 44th Ave. W.
Marysville: A Veterans Day chili luncheon is planned for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday by American Legion Post 178 at the American Legion Hall, 115 Cedar Ave.
* Golden Corral Family Steaks and Buffet offers a free dinner buffet for veterans and active-duty military personnel from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at 1065 State Ave.
Mukilteo: The Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour, 8415 Paine Field Blvd., honors veterans by offering free admission Saturday to veterans and active-duty military members from the U.S. and Canada. Wear uniforms or bring military ID.
Boeing tours, which operate every half-hour between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., will be offered on a space-available basis and cannot be reserved in advance. The Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Snohomish County: Support the Operation Santa program, which will collect food for troops Saturday and Sunday at Top Food and Haggen food stores around the Puget Sound region. Donate items to send to deployed troops for the holidays.
Stanwood: Stanwood American Legion Post 92 offers a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at Josephine Sunset Home, 9901 272nd Place NW.
Sultan: A ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial at the flag plaza on U.S. 2 and Main Street. A granite block to honor all veterans will be dedicated by the Sultan All Veterans Memorial Committee.
