Want to permanently share your home with James Dean, Marilyn Monroe or all four Beatles?
The Hollywood Wax Museum is offering wax representations of these and nearly 200 other celebrities at the first auction in its 44-year history, set for May 1.
Fans can bid on political figures, such as George Washington and Bill Clinton, and athletes like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. Musicians such as Cher, Stevie Wonder and the Fab Four will be available, along with TV and film stars including Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, Will Smith and Charlie Chaplin.
The auction will be administered by Profiles in History and a portion of the profits will support efforts to preserve Hollywood’s historic Walk of Fame.
Barbie is making her Kentucky Derby entrance in style.
Churchill Downs said Thursday it’s teaming with toy maker Mattel to create the Kentucky Derby Barbie doll.
The doll will be dressed in a floral sun dress, faux pearl necklace and spring sandals, topped with an oversized white hat with flower accents — fitting for an event where horse racing and fashion flourish.
“This is a great project that brings together two iconic American brands in a very special way,” said Casey Cook, senior director of marketing and licensing for Churchill Downs Inc.
Churchill and Mattel will also give Barbie collectors a chance to own their own life-sized Kentucky Derby Barbie replica hat. Milliner Christine A. Moore will create up to 135 replica hats to commemorate the 135th Derby and the Derby Barbie.
The first hat will be auctioned off through the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation. Proceeds will benefit several charities. The remaining 134 hats will be available on a made-to-order basis at the Derby’s Web-based store.
