Officials investigating inmate death at Idaho prison
BOISE, Idaho — Authorities say they are examining the death of a 48-year-old inmate found hanging by his neck in a jail cell at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in southwest Idaho.
Officials say prison staff found Donald Peters Shriver unconscious in his cell at the Kuna facility at 11:12 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say staff began resuscitation efforts but Shriver was pronounced dead at a Boise hospital.
Idaho Department of Correction spokesman Jeff Ray says Shriver was serving a life sentence.
Authorities say Shriver had convictions that included robbery, assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated battery.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in investigating the death.
