EVERETT — One male victim died in an apartment fire in Everett on Monday morning.
At 8:25 a.m., Everett Fire received a call to Woodhaven Apartments at 4604 Fowler Ave., according to a Facebook post from the department. The caller, a neighbor, reported smoke coming from a ground-floor apartment and the smoke alarm sounding. Firefighters arrived at the scene minutes later. Crews entered the apartment, found it full of smoke and located an unresponsive male inside.
One crew immediately began lifesaving measures while others extinguished the fire. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters extinguished a small fire in the apartment’s bedroom and prevented it from spreading to nearby units. No other residents in the complex were displaced.
The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Everett police are investigating the fatality. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will confirm the identity of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident,” read a press release from the fire department Monday.
