LYNNWOOD — A driver struck and killed a pedestrian standing on I-5 in Lynnwood early Monday, police said.
Around midnight, the Washington State Patrol received calls about a person standing in the middle of northbound I-5 near 44th Avenue West in Lynnwood.
A Hyundai Venue SUV driven by a Granite Falls woman hit the Seattle woman, later identified as Frewoini Woldemariam, 45, according to the state patrol. She died at the scene.
The driver, 31, was reportedly injured and taken to Swedish Edmonds.
Troopers continued investigating the crash Monday morning. Drugs and alcohol were believed to be a factor in the incident, state trooper Kelsey Harding said. No arrests were made.
