SNOHOMISH — Two elementary school buses were not in service today following a Friday afternoon pellet shooting that broke windows out of the buses.
Children from Seattle Hill Elementary and Totem Falls Elementary were on the buses at the time, but no one was hurt, said J. Marie Merrifield, spokeswoman for the district.
Damage of the buses was estimated at about $600.
Merrifield said letters about the incidents would be sent home with students on Monday.
“We’re concerned that it occurred,” Merrifield said. “We’re thankful there were no injuries and that all the kids are OK.”
The first passenger window behind the driver’s side of bus No. 2 was broken out while the bus was driving on 134th Street just before 62nd Drive, she said. On bus No. 29, a window on the right side of the bus about nine windows back was shot out on 134th Street near Evergreen Ridge.
One of the buses is expected to be back in service Tuesday. The other bus window must be special ordered so it may take about five days, Merrifield said.
