ENID, Okla. — The pilot of a small airplane was detained and later released after making an unauthorized landing at Vance Air Force Base in Enid.
Vance spokesman Joe Wiles said the pilot landed about 8:15 p.m Thursday after apparently mistaking the Air Force base for nearby Woodring Regional Airport. The two airports are about 10 miles apart.
The pilot’s name was not released.
The pilot was taken into custody by base security after landing the single-engine turboprop and was released after questioning. He was allowed to take off at 9:08 p.m.
