PORTLAND, Ore. — The Beaverton Police Department disclosed Thursday that three officers fired at a man who shot an officer at a trailer park.
The names of the officers and the number of shots they fired have yet to be released.
Police say the officers fired at 59-year-old Michael Westrich after he shot an officer who responded to a disturbance Wednesday.
Westrich died at the scene.
The injured officer, Scott Burke, was taken to a hospital and later released. He’s the first Beaverton police officer to be shot in the line of duty.
The officers who returned fire remain on paid administration leave as the investigation continues.
