ARLINGTON — Police arrested an Arlington High School student Friday after he was accused of carrying a gun on campus.
Just after 10:30 a.m. Friday, police were notified that a student was carrying a weapon at Arlington High School, authorities said. When officers arrived, they reportedly confirmed the student had a weapon. The student was expected to be booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of possessing dangerous weapons on school facilities, unlawful firearm possession and carrying a concealed firearm.
On Friday afternoon, city officials said they were “unable to release any further details at this time.”
“However, we want to assure the community that we empathize with their concern and are working closely with school officials to conduct ongoing threat assessments and ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff,” the city wrote in a press release.
Anyone with information on the case was encouraged to contact Arlington police at 360-435-7550.
