MARYSVILLE — An investigation is under way after a man was found dead on southbound I-5 Tuesday night near the 88th Street NE overpass.
People started calling 911 around 7 p.m. to report someone in the roadway, said Keith Leary, a trooper with the Washington State Patrol. Several callers said the man may have been sitting up between the right lane and center lane before being hit.
The man, 27, appears to have been struck by multiple vehicles, Leary said. He later was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives spent much of Wednesday following up on leads in the case.
Police urge anyone with information about the incident to call 360-658-2588.
If anyone saw anything out of the ordinary or thinks they might have hit something, they should call, Leary said. Witnesses said they saw multiple people pulled over near the scene, but many of those drivers haven’t talked to police.
Just a few new details from people who were in that area at the time could help solve the case, Leary said.
The man’s identity has not been released because officials are still working to reach his family, Leary said. If anyone has been missing a male family member in his mid to late 20s over the last few days, they are urged to call the number above.
