PORTLAND, Ore. — Prosecutors in Oregon say a 19-year-old Portland man tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and one of her friends while they sat in a car.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports that prosecutors charged McKeever Watkins Thompson III on Friday with multiple counts of attempted murder, as well as participating in a drive-by shooting.
According to law enforcement officials, Thompson shot at his ex-girlfriend Alexia Campbell and her friend, Valeria Chavez, using a .380 handgun early Wednesday morning. Court documents show that Campbell told police that Thomas pulled up to their vehicle while driving a Buick sedan and then shot at the window of the car she was sitting in. The Buick then chased Campbell’s vehicle.
Police say Thompson initially denied being involved in the shooting, but later said he shot at Campbell’s car and drove after it.
Thompson is scheduled to be in court again Sept. 26.
