EVERETT — Have you ever thought of putting a microchip in your dog or cat?
Does your doggie compete like an athlete? Have you ever dressed your dog in a tutu?
If you answered yes to any of these questions you might want to bring your dog — or cat — to Mutt Strut on Saturday for a ch
ance to compete and celebrate the dog days of summer.
Mutt Strut is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake, 11405 W Silver Lake Road, Everett.
The event is free. It costs $2 to enter your dog in a race, $5 per dog entered in a showcase, or $15 to enter your dog in multiple races or competitions.
Pet races, or the “Running of the Dogs,” begin at 11 a.m. and include the Dachshund Dash and Pug Chug. Dog showcases include Best Vocals, Best Dressed Dog and Toilet Paper Leash Obstacle Course.
Each dog at Mutt Strut gets a free commemorative bandana.
Also, free microchips will be administered from 10 a.m. to noon to the first 200 Snohomish County resident dogs or cats. Cats must be in a carrier; dogs must be on a leash.
Mutt Strut activities include a community dog walk, displays, lectures, competitions and prizes. A variety of dogs and cats from shelters from around the state will be on hand to find permanent homes for pets in need.
