Driving rain that has been falling in sheets all afternoon is expected to continue into the evening, potentially making for a rough drive home, weather officials said.
Then, after tonight, things should get considerably nicer.
“I think people are ready for an extended stretch of sunny, drier weather,” said Jim Prang, a National Weather Service meteorologist. “That’s what we’re forecasting.”
The forecast is for lots of sun all week starting as early as Tuesday afternoon, Prang said.
But before it comes, as much of a quarter inch of rain is expected by the end of today, he said. In the higher elevations, look for heavy snow, as much as five to 10 inches of new snow in the Cascades by the end of the night.
The sunny and drier weather is expected to come with cooler temperatures, with highs in the lower 40s and lows in the 30s in the lowland areas.
