Readers earn Everett Mayor’s Award

More than 1,000 kids participated in this year’s Everett Public Library summer reading program.

For their hard work, the readers earned rewards such as pizza, roller-skating and other prizes donated by Everett business owners.

The reading program strengthens skills during the summer and helps students prepare for the school year, children’s library staff said.

Finishing the program and earning all the prizes were 314 young people. Each read 100 books or finished 100 timed 30-minute reading sessions.
