RENTON — A police spokesman says Renton police shot and wounded a 24-year-old man during an arrest Wednesday. Kent police Sgt. Pat Lowery says the man was sought in connection with a Sept. 11 assault on a bus driver in Kirkland and is accused of using a gun to threaten the Kirkland officer who tried to arrest him in that case.
In Wednesday’s encounter, Lowery said the unidentified man was shot after he sprayed officers with a garden hose and then ran.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Renton police had gone to the home of the man’s parents at the request of Kirkland police.
Lowery says the unidentified officer who fired three shots Wednesday is 41 years old and a seven-year veteran of the Renton police. He’s being placed on administrative leave. Kent police are investigating the shooting.
