Utsalady Ladies picnic
Utsalady Ladies Aid Community Potluck Picnic is planned for noon Sunday at 78 E. Utsalady Road on Camano Island.
“The Pirates of Utsalady” will feature a scavenger hunt, races, a plank walk, a cake walk and a raffle.
Bring your favorite potluck dish. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided.
All are welcome.
Walk in Darrington: A breast cancer benefit is 8 a.m. Sunday in Darrington along Old Sauk River Trail.
It’s planned by the The D-Town Gals, a nonprofit group raising money to participate in the upcoming Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.
The suggested donation is $25 with a T-shirt or $20 without. To participate, meet at the Darrington Community Center, 570 Sauk Ave., for a ride to the trailhead. Walk three miles one way or six miles round trip. For more information, call 360-631-6609 or 360-436-1861.
Invasive spartina removal work day: The Nature Conservancy seeks folks who want to get involved with its Port Susan preserve.
Volunteers can help remove the invasive plant spartina at the 4,122-acre preserve where the Stillaguamish River empties into the bay.
The work party, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, will involve a short boat ride to a sandy area where spartina seedlings can easily be pulled by hand.
