NORTH BEND — Search and rescue crews were working Sunday to rescue a 41-year-old hiker who suffered a broken back in a fall on Mount Si in North Bend.
The King County Sheriff’s Office says the hiker fell Sunday afternoon while hiking the 4,167-foot peak about 30 miles east of Seattle.
KING-TV reported that high winds prevented a helicopter crew from hoisting the hiker out. So several dozen rescuers geared up Sunday afternoon to hike in to help carry him out. It was expected to take several hours to bring him down.
