GOLD BAR — A resident escaped a fire and resulting propane explosion that destroyed a trailer Saturday morning along the south fork of the Skykomish River.
Sky Valley Fire arrived to the burning home around 11 a.m. in the 52800 block of Sky Loop Road, just southeast of Gold Bar, said Fire Chief Eric Andrews. The resident evacuated prior to fire crews’ arrival.
The home was outside cellphone coverage and crews had to truck in water because there were no hydrants nearby, Andrews said. The fire was extinguished within a few minutes but crews remained on the scene around 1 p.m. to monitor hot spots.
“There’s not much to be saved,” Andrews said. The Red Cross was helping the displaced resident find shelter.
King County Fire District 50 assisted.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause.
