EVERETT – A school bus used to advertise for new drivers was set ablaze outside an elementary school, and now investigators are offering a reward to catch whoever set the fire.
“It’s definitely arson. I’m following up on some leads,” said Bruce Pulver, a Snohomish County deputy fire marshal.
Pulver and Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the fire.
No one had been arrested Friday.
“It appears it may have been juveniles,” Pulver said. “We want to get the word out that there is a reward.”
Up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the arson.
The small, empty school bus was parked in a fenced field outside Seattle Hill Elementary School.
The bus was draped with a banner advertising for bus drivers.
Firefighters were called to the school about 6:20 p.m. and found the bus engulfed in flames, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
The fire was quickly extinguished.
Damage was estimated at $2,000. No one was hurt.
School had been canceled Thursday because of Wednesday’s snowstorm.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the fire marshal’s office at 425-388-3557.
