CAMANO ISLAND — Road-weary Camano Island drivers will face more traffic troubles in the weeks ahead.
Travel delays are expected on a number of island roads as construction crews will put down asphalt overlays later this month.
The tentative "fair weather" closure schedule is:
July 16-17: Vista Del Mar Street from D’Jorup Street to Puesta Del Sol Avenue.
July 17-18: Sunset Drive from W. Camano Drive to 0.6 miles southwest of W. Camano Drive.
July 17-18: Beachwood Drive and Maple Street from Olympic Street to Second Street.
July 18-23: S. Camano Drive from Elger Bay Road to Awa Lane.
July 23-25: S. Camano Drive from Irenella Lane to Dallman Road.
July 25-26: Dallman Road from S. Camano Drive to E. Camano Drive.
Affected roads will be open, but limited to one-way, flagger-controlled traffic. The construction work will mean 20-minute delays, and drivers are encouraged to choose alternate routes.
Drivers on Camano have already been stressed this summer with the closure of E. Camano Drive, Island County’s busiest road, for a road-widening project.
