WASHINGTON — Here’s how area members of Congress voted on major issues in the week ending Oct. 30.
House
Interior Department: Members passed, 247-178, the final version of a $32.2 billion budget for the Department of the Interior and agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency in 2010. A yes vote supported a bill (HR 2996) that includes $385 million for addressing climate change.
Voting yes: Jay Inslee, D-1; Rick Larsen, D-2; Norm Dicks, D-6; Jim McDermott, D-7; Dave Reichert, R-8; Adam Smith, D-9
Voting no: Brian Baird, D-3; Doc Hastings, R-4; Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-5
Small business: Members voted, 389-32, to raise the cap from $2 million to $3 million on federally guaranteed loans made by banks in the Small Business Administration’s main lending program. Taxpayers would back 90 percent of each “Section 7(a)” loan. A yes vote was to pass HR 3854.

Voting no: None
Senate
Jobless benefits: Senators voted, 87-13, to advance a bill providing 20 more weeks of jobless checks for those losing current allotments in states with at least 8.5 percent unemployment. A yes vote was to debate a bill (HR 3548) that also provides 14 more weeks of checks in other states.
Voting yes: Maria Cantwell, D;, Patty Murray, D
Interior Department: Voting 72-28, senators sent President Barack Obama the final version of a bill providing $32.2 billion for the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies in fiscal 2010 (HR 2996, above). A yes vote was to approve the conference report.

Key votes ahead
In the week of Nov. 2, the House will take up bills on health care, credit cards and protecting chemical factories, while the Senate will debate extended jobless benefits and a renewal of the home-purchase tax credit.
