EDMONDS — A scuba diver was plucked from the water at the Edmonds Underwater Park on Monday after his tank ran out of compressed air*.
The man was clinging to a buoy when rescuers from the Edmonds Fire Department reached him in a boat around 12:30 p.m., said Sgt. Don Anderson of the Edmonds Police Department.
The man was rescued. His condition wasn’t immediately available, but a bystander said the diver appeared to be OK.
The man’s wife was on shore, watching him dive, and called for help when she realized something was wrong, said Cecilio DiGino, a Kirkland artist who watched the rescue. The couple are from Medford, Ore., DiGino said.
The Edmonds Underwater Park is a scuba diving area near the Edmonds ferry terminal. The park has more than 27 acres for divers to explore.
