OLYMPIA – The search for a missing Lake Roesiger area pilot was suspended Monday after a nine-day effort to find him.
The state Department of Transportation was leading the effort to find Gordon Last, 51, who reportedly left Harvey Field on Oct. 10. He took off in a 63-year-old Taylorcraft two-seat plane.
Rescue teams flew for nearly 250 hours and around 175 people helped in the search, said Nisha Marvel, a transportation department spokeswoman. Two helicopters from King and Snohomish counties also helped out.
Last’s plane departed in the afternoon and he was expected to return that day, she said. His girlfriend reported him missing.
Search teams focused on the area between Shelton and Westport after a witness reported seeing Last in the area.
According to reports, the plane had no emergency locator beacon or transponder on board, and no flight plan was filed.
