50 years ago (1964)
Dale S. Renberg of Snohomish was named assistant manager for New York Life Insurance Co. of Everett, according to Gerald Hyde, general officer manager of the Everett office. Renberg had been with Bickford Motors in Snohomish.
Named this week as chef for the Monte Cristo Hotel was Gil Ward, known to many Everett residents as Everett Yacht Club chef from 1955 to 1958. He had also been chef at the Bellingham Hotel and the John Jacob Astor Hotel in Astoria, Ore. Recently he owned and operated the Coffee Cup Café on north Broadway.

Wedding bells recently rang at the gas pumps at the Martha Lake Arco AM/PM Minimart. Jim Wilson escorted Pam Unser through the doors of the store as Unser’s future mother-in-law waited to take her place as matron of honor. Her marriage to Jimmie Hallenberger took place where they worked for Jim and Jean Knowles.
A Taste of Edmonds was taking place this weekend at Sixth and Bell. There was plenty to do for all with fine food, Rainier Beer garden, live entertainment, kids’ activities, celebrities, Washington wine tasting and free trolley rides.
