50 years ago (1958)
Providence Hospital Children’s Association donated medical equipment to the hospital. Looking over the equipment were Georgia Backlezos, Barbara Bowles and Lauretta Knudson. The group was also planning its spring tea at the Clyde Walton home, 412 Laurel Drive.
Explorer Scouts planning a raft trip down the Columbia River were getting survival training at Chuck Lee’s swim pool. Harold Anderson, Paine Air Force Base, was the adviser and Gordon Bowen was the group leader. The other boys were Harold Spurrier, Larry Bowen, Lloyd Larson, George McAdoo, George Brattain and John Pierce.
25 years ago (1983)
“Ecos Latinos,” a bilingual Hispanic program on Sunday evenings over Everett radio station KWYZ was to be expanded to an hour. Program host Ricardo Castellanos said the longer program would include national news, cultural history, health features and Latin American music.
Children at Lake Stickney Elementary School were excited and nervous as they performed for the eighth annual Mukilteo School District Grandpa-Grandma Day. Among the performers was Lisa Harvey, a second-grader in Marion Unger’s class, who stole the show with a poem about convincing parents to buy a pony.
