50 years ago (1958)
For outstanding service to the Boy Scout organization over the years, Lloyd Solie and Gordon Taylor were honored by Evergreen Area Council at exercises at the Legion Home. Scout Larry Beck gave the men their awards under the direction of his grandfather, Dr. L.G. Beck, long active in Scouting and himself a Silver Beaver winner.
Mukilteo Rose Hill School students got insight into how a bank handles its money when they visited First National Bank of Everett’s drive-in branch on Hoyt Avenue this week. Participants included Mary Jo Noll, Susan Wold, Bobby Walker, Jimmy Byers, Reed Holgerts, Barry Brodniak, Karen Keezer and Jennifer Clark.
25 years ago (1983)
Snohomish County residents involved in agriculture were to dine with county officials, listen to industry-related talks and witness a cow-milking contest as part of a nationwide Agriculture Day observance. It was sponsored by the Snohomish County Dairy Women and would be held at the Everett Elks lodge. Speakers included Willis Tucker, Cliff Bailey and Heidi Small.
Dick Schroedl of Pathfinders was leading the group in an attempt to turn an abandoned Burlington Northern railroad bed into a path. The trail, between Lake Stevens and Arlington could serve joggers, hikers, bikers and horseback riders.
