50 years ago (1958)
Disabled America Veterans Auxiliary met in the home of Dora Campbell, 2316 Baker Ave., to make plans to entertain department officers at a luncheon in the Monte Cristo Hotel. Plans were also made for members to entertain at a coffee hour in Veterans Hospital in Seattle. Their spring conference would be at Tacoma’s Olympus Hotel with Louise Aldrich, Eva Spilman and Elva Evans in attendance.
Roy Gregersen, 4127 Hoyt Ave., graduated this week from an eight-month air defense training course of International Business Machines Corp.’s Military Products Division in Kingston, N.Y. The son of Augusta Jewell, he was assigned to an air defense installation at Madison, Wis.
25 years ago (1983)
Pioneer First Federal Savings and Loan announced that Ralph Schapler, president and chief executive officer of the company, was appointed to the management committee of the U.S. League of Savings Institutions. Gerald Iseman, executive vice president of the company, was appointed to the group’s secondary market committee.
Michael Matteson, a 1954 graduate of Everett High School and chemical engineering professor at Georgia Tech, presented a paper on acid rain to the American Chemical Society.
