50 years ago (1958)
The View Ridge Parent-Teacher Association was holding its annual dad’s night in the school auditorium. Their featured speaker was television sports announcer Bill O’Mara. Preceding his talk was a business meeting with reports on the upcoming fun night and new officers nominations.
Carl Nelson, a Shoultes district resident for the past 35 years, was honored at Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska, recently when he was presented with a 20-year award by the Civil Service.
25 years ago (1983)
Mary Jamieson of Everett had all her children and grandchildren together for the first time last weekend for the wedding of her youngest son, Floyd, to Dorothy Hunt. Her other four children were daughters Carolyne Pond of Portland, Ore.; Mary Rugg of Sacramento, Calif.; Marcia Alflen of Snohomish; and son Bruce of Houston.
Enjoying our now-past ultramild “winter” was Richard Crocker, the new director of Sherwood Learning Center at Lake Stevens. Succeeding Hazel Venables, who retired at the end of the year, he came to Snohomish County from New Hampshire, where he had been assistant director of the state Division of Mental Health and Developmental Services.
