Gov. Albert Rosellini announced the appointment of Bernard Seibel of Everett as chief of the State Department of Institutions’ community service section. Seibel had been the supervising psychiatric worker in the Everett office in 1954.
Making final plans for the annual meeting of the Snohomish County Health, Welfare and Recreation Council, which would be held in the Presbyterian Church were Monte Kyle, Beryl Manley, Hazel Duncan and Dr. M.M. Stocker, president. The workshop meeting would feature a self-analysis by delegates of the council’s work.
25 years ago (1983)
About 100 people, more than half of them on horseback, trotted from Memorial Stadium to the courthouse in a rally supporting the development of a year-round equestrian park that would include a horse-racing track. The horse fanciers wanted the park at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.
The Pacific Northwest had the cheapest gasoline prices in the country. Spot checks in Everett showed regular leaded gas was selling for as little at 84.9 cents at Bud Worthen’s Chevron at Everett Avenue and Broadway. It was 87.9 at the Hudson Oil station at 16th Street and Broadway and 86.9 at Holiday Texaco on 128th Street SW.
