50 years ago (1957)
With the completion of an extensive remodeling project started early this year Laraway Cleaners, 1826 Broadway, was one of the most modern and efficient cleaning establishments in the city. Owner Tony DiGuardi said that installation of new equipment would enable the firm to increase its service to customers.
Ann Luree Sisson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sisson, was Everett Exchange Club’s Girl of the Month for November. Accorded the honor of Boy of the Month at the Monte Cristo Hotel luncheon was Darwin Paskett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paskett, of Everett.
25 years ago (1982)
Edmonds resident Rolland Garfield Campbell turned 101 last month. Outlasting the actuarial tables, he collected on his own life insurance policy. As a child he was kind of puny and suffered from recurring bouts of malaria on his father’s hectic Kansas farm. His middle name honored the fallen president who died from complications from an assassin’s bullet two weeks before he was born. He recalled a trip his family made from Kansas to Colorado when he was 3.
The community of Arlington and pool chairwoman Delores Robb were cited for their continuing support of the blood bank program.
