50 years ago (1957)
Expected to be ready for occupancy in September was a new concrete block music building under constriction at the rear of North Junior High School. It was similar to the music building recently constructed at South Junior. John Bryant was the architect. The contractor was John Bryant. He also was building an addition to View Ridge Elementary School.
Boy Scouts were enjoying the new “L” shaped swimming pool, open at Camp Sevenich this year for the first full season. Nearly 400 boys had access to the pool this year during four one-week periods at the camp. One section was 5 feet deep while the diving section had a depth of 9 feet.
25 year’s ago (1982)
Everett’s new Medic One van would start responding to life-and-death emergencies tomorrow. Mayor Bill Moore, recently looked beyond the voter support that made the service possible and declared July 14 “Dorothy McNiven, Marian Bonneywell and Harriet Griffith Day” to recognize the women who pushed for Medic One.
Arlington author Irene Pascoe would be signing copies of her new book, “The Velvet Shadows of Justin Wood,” a gothic mystery published in paperback by Zebra Books at the Thrifty Foods in Arlington.
