50 years ago (1956)
Expected to open later this month was Skyline Stables, under construction on Skyline Drive east of Everett. It was owned by R.W. Boggs, Everett supermarket owner, and managed by Jack Newton, an experienced horseman from San Francisco. Measuring 204 by 75 feet, it would be the largest indoor arena in the state.
25 years ago (1981)
The county jail-site selection committee eliminated the block that contained the Scottish Rite Temple leaving just two sites for consideration. They were the block north of the administration building between Rockefeller and Oakes avenues and the block east of the parking garage.
Dyan Dart of Arlington was elected president of the Everett Chapter of Credit Women International for the 1981-82 year. Her mother, Charlotte O’Dell who was a past president, installed her at ceremonies at the Cascade Club. Dart worked for Everett Federal Savings and Loan.
