Evelyn Boehmer, 3002 Oakes Ave., accepted from Lawrence Van Winkle, assistant manager of Van Winkle Furniture Co., a notice that she was due to receive a Sealy mattress as one of the winners in the $500,000 Posturepedic contest the Sealy Co. held throughout the nation.
25 years ago (1981)
“The Intruders,” by Elgar Houghton of Everett, was scheduled for publication in October by the Pacific Northwest Labor History Association. The historical novel traced the series of events that led to the Everett Massacre, in which seven Industrial Workers of the World union activists were killed on Nov. 5, 1916.
