Bryce Munger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Munger, 1105 Colby Ave., was awarded a summer research fellowship by Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Mo., and was studying anatomy at the University of Washington.
Members of the Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce were manning push brooms, shovels and hoses as they gave their city a going-over in a weeklong cleanup campaign. Turning out for duty were Bud Kern, Gene Guptill, Dick Craven, Mike Gohl, Gene Gohl, Dean Kell, Wayne Braa, Larry Whitfield, Skip Norman, Norm Walker, Vito Quaranta, Tom Trombley, Ken Schilaty and Nick Agostonelli.
25 years ago (1981)
Robert Drewel was named acting chief executive officer for Everett Community College (District 5) board of trustees. Drewel, who was currently district director of personnel and contract administration, would replace Nina Haynes.
Joe Mallahan of Cascade High School and Pamela Sjoholm of Everett High School were chosen Boy and Girl of the Year by the Everett Exchange. Each received a $500 scholarship. Mallahan, the son of Pat and Regina Mallahan, was student body president at Cascade. Sjoholm, daughter of Fred and JoAnne Sjoholm, was Girls Club president at her school.
