50 years ago (1955)
The Christian Business and Professional Women of Everett were having a Christmas meeting in the Fireplace Room of Bethel Baptist Church. The program included games, refreshments and entertainment. The guest speaker was Joanne Luke, whose husband was pastor of Beverly Park Community Church. Audrey Limkeman was taking reservations.
Airman LeRoy Henning, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Henning of 2521 Baker Ave., was taking basic training at Parks Air Force Base in California. Prior to his enlistment, he attended Everett High School. Following completion of the 54-day program, he would be sent to a technical or administrative school.
25 years ago (1980)
Members of the Dummy Club for CB radio operators were to sing Christmas carols at Colby Manor, Bethany Home and Virginia Manor. They also were selling wreaths that were on display at Madison Street and Evergreen Way. Proceeds would be used to assist people in need.
Rick Soriano of Everett High School scored 16 points to lead the Seagulls to a 56-42 win over Shoreline’s Shorewood High School. Mike Champion had 14 points, and Chris Chandler had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
