50 years ago (1955)
The Everett Zonta Club met with Cecile Tracy Spry in the Jordan Nurses Home for its annual Christmas party. The rooms were decorated by Agnes Koenig. Mayme Ross sang two solos, Georgianna Behm read a Christmas story and an exchange of gifts was held.
Ernest Lovely, 1809 Madison, was appointed merchandise manager for Van Winkle’s Furniture, 2721 Wetmore. Lovely had been in the furniture business about 28 years, about 12 in Everett.
25 years ago (1980)
Scott McKay, a former Everett High School football player, was about to have the experience that every athlete dreamed of. He and his Pacific Lutheran University teammates were to tangle with Wilmington College of Ohio for the NAIA Division II championship at Tacoma’s Lincoln Bowl. McKay credited his interest in kicking to former Everett teammate Chuck Nelson, now the place-kicker for the University of Washington.
Dedication of the multi-purpose gym at the new Zion Lutheran School on the Glenwood-Foss Road was to take place. The move from classrooms at Zion Lutheran Church in Snohomish, where the school had operated since 1901, was made the previous January.
