50 years ago (1955)
Eleven students at Everett Junior College maintained perfect 4.0 grade point averages winter quarter. They were Ethel Fenton, Arden Douglas, Sharon Craig, Ellen Hagglund, Robert Payne, LeRoy Annis, John Leaf, Paul Perkins, David Berg, Gordon Erickson and Gerald Thomas.
Bob Dent showed slides of Vancouver Island, and Walter Higgins showed a film about the Calgary Stampede at the recent meeting of the South Everett Lions Club. Bill Taylor called for volunteers to work on the Little League field. John Bryant presented an architectural drawing of the new youth center planned in Beverly Park.
25 years ago (1980)
Donna Johnson of Marysville was named executive secretary to Snohomish County Executive-elect Willis Tucker. Johnson was the owner and manger of Steno and Copy Service and Highline Personnel in Lynnwood.
Fees ranging from $1 to $4 would take effect beginning Memorial Day in U.S. Forest Service campgrounds. The campgrounds in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest were at Gold Basin, Turlo and Verlot.
