50 years ago (1955)
Chief communications technician Harry Dawson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dawson of Everett, was stationed at the headquarters of Adm. John Cassady, commander in chief of U.S. Naval Forces, Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean, at London, England.
The Cassatio Junior Musical Club chose Patsy Sands to play a violin solo, and Barbara Falkner and Clara Shaw to dance for the Ladies Musical Club later in the year.
25 years ago (1980)
Cascade Savings and Loan Association invited the public to elegant dining. Those depositing $50 in a new or current Cascade Savings account would receive a four-piece place setting of fine china. With each additional deposit of $25 an additional setting could be selected. The offer was good at all Cascade banks: Everett, Marysville, Bellingham, Lynnwood, Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma.
Attention, card players. Pan game and poker were being played at the Jack O’ Diamonds Room at the Cookbook Restaurant and Lounge, 1216 Broadway. The establishment opened at noon.
