50 years ago (1954)
The difference between a Mr. Gloom and a Mr. Smiley was as simple as waking up with rusty water. One in 10 was a Mr. Gloom with rusty water. Mr. Smiley had a new Permaglas automatic water heater. They were available at Haskell’s, Hellenthal’s, Rucker Avenue Plumbing and Peterson’s Thor Shop.
Anita Stanton was elected president when the Sunnyside 4-H Club met at the Johnson home. Other officers were: Ruth Harrison, secretary; Marcia Rambo, treasurer; and Ramona Hammerly, reporter. The installation of officers would be held at Carol Ann Grace’s home.
25 years ago (1979)
John Fluke of Fluke Manufacturing Co. would speak on Initiative 62, the state tax-limitation measure, at a luncheon of the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corp.
Coach Dick Armstrong of the Snohomish Panthers football team moved Scott Anderson from quarterback to halfback. This freed him up to run, and his greatest strength was his speed. Playing quarterback now was Lewis Widmann, who had a strong throwing arm.
