50 years ago (1954)
Boy Scouts who were making a bus trek to New Mexico got tips on the operation of Coleman stoves in a workout at the Armory. Shown with Gordon Taylor, president of Evergreen Area Council of Boy Scouts, were Dennis Brawford and Tommy Collins of Everett, John McBride of Snohomish and David Buxton of Alderwood Manor.
D.A. Duryee advertised a home with bluff frontage on Mukilteo Boulevard. The brick home had four bedrooms, spacious living room, separate dining room, full basement, oil heat, double plumbing and beautiful landscaping. The sale price was $32,000.
25 years ago (1979)
Lori Beattie and Kim Olson of Everett and Bruce Gourley of Lynnwood were awarded $500 scholarships from the Scottish Rite Foundation. Beattie was to attend the University of Washington while the others were going to Washington State University.
There would be cold beer at the Paine Field Air Fair this year despite recent limits passed by Snohomish County commissioners, which severely restricted consumption of liquor on county property. The new policy would not go into effect until after the show.
