50 years ago (1964)
Grand award winners in the Snohomish County Science Fair, earning them trips to the National Science Fair in Baltimore, were Melinda Lueth and Mike Jones of Everett and Edmonds high schools, respectively. Everett High’s Gerry Anderson was named “Navy Cruiser” and would be the guest of the U.S. Navy for a week.
Young dramatists bringing home honors from the High School Drama Competition at Pacific Lutheran University were Andrea Kent and Chad Henry of Everett High’s Drama Department, under the direction of Robert Henry. EHS students’ performance of the play “The Room” received honorable mention. Chad received fourth for his performance as Mr. Kidd, and Andrea third in the leading role of Rose.
25 years ago (1989)
Jeremiah Hartman, 11, found the weather perfect for croquet at his home on Cedar Street. Winter was giving up grudgingly though, greeting morning commuters with icy windshields and patches of fog.
Gayle Inslee had joined Technigraphic Systems Inc. of Edmonds as an account representative. Inslee, a graduate of Western Washington University, previously worked as an art director for a New Zealand advertising agency.
