Raymond Coon added a post office substation to his jewelry store at the big B&M Supermarket at the south end of the city. The latest addition to the Everett postal system was in full operation.
The Lowell Study Club was entertaining the Lowell Book Club at the home of Mrs. Hazel Blair. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Ada McStotts and Mrs. Lenore Linden. A talk would be given by Julia Parker, and roll call was answered with people in the news.
"Super successful" was the verdict on the weekend’s First and Third Age Art Festival put together by Senior Services of Snohomish County at the Paine Field senior center. Two special awards were given. Staff members voted a painting entered by Margaret Timmermen of Everett as "staff choice." Lillian Griffee of Lynnwood won the "directors choice."
Mrs. Helen Carpenter, who would be 87 later in the month, recalled her years of golfing. She first began at age 16 with clubs she borrowed from her younger sister, Edna. In those days she wore a long skirt, teed off from a mound of sand and used a mashie instead of a five iron. She quit playing last spring.
