EVERETT – No one was hurt when a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy’s cruiser crashed into an apartment building early Saturday in an effort to avoid hitting a car.
The crash occurred about 5:40 a.m. on 112th Street SW between 2nd Place W and 3rd Avenue W, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The deputy was responding with emergency lights flashing to investigate someone driving in a stolen car, she said.
That’s when another car pulled into an intersection. The Sheriff’s cruiser swerved to avoid an accident and instead barreled through a fence and into an unoccupied apartment. The patrol car was totaled and the building was damaged, Hover said.
The incident is under investigation.
