EVERETT — Snohomish County has scheduled its eighth annual Focus on Farming conference at Comcast Arena on Nov. 3.
The networking event aims to create opportunities for new and seasoned farmers alike.
New this year is a 17,000-square-foot trade show with tractors, feed, fertilizers and other wares for the agriculture community.
The upcoming conference sports the theme, “Harvesting Opportunity.” Speakers include attorney Bill Marler, an advocate of strong food-safety policies; award-winning Seattle chef Tamara Murphy; and Graham Kerr, the chef, author and TV personality known as the “Galloping Gourmet.”
Workshop sessions are to focus on small-scale farming, social marketing, specialty crops and the business of agriculture.
Focus on Farming also promises to give attendees a taste of Snohomish County. The program includes a lunch prepared by local chefs using locally grown or raised food. There’s also an evening wine-and-cheese tasting with wineries and artisan cheesemakers from Western Washington.
More than 500 people attended last year’s conference at the Tulalip Resort and Conference Center.
