The keen eye of a Snohomish County deputy led to the arrest Saturday of a man who tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl at knifepoint in Tacoma, officials told The News Tribune.
The attempted abduction occurred July 30 when the girl was walking with her mother, and the man threatened the two with a butcher knife, officials said. The two screamed, and the man got into his pickup truck and left, officials said. The girl and mother were able to provide a description of the assailant to the police sketch artist.
That composite was spotted Aug. 5 by Snohomish County deputy Jeffery Henderson, who recognized the suspect. The deputy called Tacoma police, and the suspect was arrested Saturday, said Tacoma Police spokeswoman Tracy Conaway.
