ARLINGTON — Arlington Arts Council members want people to spend their cold, rainy Sunday afternoon in the warm theater of the Byrnes Performing Arts Center enjoying some lively entertainment.
It’s a variety show in the true sense of the concept, council President Sarah Arney said.
“We’ll have something for everyone,” she said.
The audience can expect magic, comedy, country music, gospel, a barbershop quartet and a concert by 16-year-old Arlington harpist Rosalie Boyle.
Proceeds from the matinee show will help fund the council’s art banner project around Arlington, Arney said.
The variety show performers include:
n Magician Mark Robinson of Atlanta, Ga., who also is a comedian and a juggler. He has performed on television and opened for the likes of well-known comedian Jeff Foxworthy, as well as provided halftime shows for the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers.
n Dean Case, owner of a real estate agency in Arlington, who is a member of Lem Pratt’s Hard Road Band. The band performs covers of country western music hits from several generations, as well as Pratt’s original numbers, bluegrass and gospel tunes.
n The Pieces of Eight barbershop quartet, with members Jim Buchan, baritone; Jim Civarra, lead; Bill Dergan, tenor; and Gary Epps, bass. The Seattle quartet sings a wide variety of music from the 1920s through the 1960s, including Broadway tunes, love songs, folk music and holiday songs.
