Q The new intersection at Lincoln Way and Mukilteo Speedway is open to east- and westbound traffic. The posted speed limit on Lincoln Way is 30 mph. The actual speeds are much higher. Is there any sort of relief for residents, as far as traffic speed control? Or do we have to wait it out until someone gets killed?

A Jan Jorgensen, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, said south precinct patrol deputies will make every effort to provide radar and visual monitoring in that area.
She said the sheriff’s Volunteer Unit could monitor the area for speeding cars using a radar gun and a readerboard. Volunteers would record the license numbers of vehicles exceeding the speed limit and a letter would be sent to the registered owners advising them of the violation, requesting that they obey the speed limit. They then do follow-ups, and if the traffic does not slow down, tickets will be issued.
The program is called "Street Watch" and is available (at no cost to taxpayers) in unincorporated Snohomish County.
